I recently read this article which had been floating around Facebook, and it really inspired me. While I generally consider myself a kind person, I am also sassy and quick to judge. Everyone has their faults. But while reading this woman’s account of being cussed out by some lady trying to beat her to the Starbucks drive-thru, then smiling, letting her go ahead and trying to pay for her, I was forced to stop and think.
How often to I overlook someone’s obvious hardship, roll my eyes, call them a not-so-nice word (under my breath of course)? Sometimes if we just take a moment and really look at the situation, we could very easily see that someone just has way too much going on, or that something really awful has happened to them and they’re just in a rough spot. Haven’t we all been there? Overloaded with stress, and then you make a wrong turn…I can say with complete honesty that this kind of mindset caused me to actually break my nose once (long story, it was an accident). What I’m trying to say is that when it all becomes too much, most people kind of lose it. And the best thing we can do for those people is just to be kind. That’s something I’ll be working on.
