I really want to get back to my Friday posts, as I love sharing the little things that are going on with me, and sharing some things that I find. I’ve always been so concerned about the format of these posts, but I’m just going to let each week dictate it’s own post style.
This afternoon I’ll be ditching the office early to drive up north to my parents’ house for an exciting event – wedding dress shopping! Tomorrow I’ll be hitting up two dress shops in Seattle with my mom & sister in search of the perfect (or at least, really really great) white dress for the big day. I’ll definitely share the experience on here! We ordered our save the date cards last night, so I’ll share those once our family & friends have received them.
On my mind
Today is a bittersweet day. First, it’s my dad’s birthday! I’m really happy that I’ll be able to spend time with him for his birthday, something I haven’t been able to do for years. It’s also the second anniversary of my great-grandmother’s passing. My great-grandmother (her first name was Willa, which I think is beautiful, but she went by her middle name, Irene) was selfless, hardworking and beautiful. She died two years ago from a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Especially after Glen Campbell’s passing this week (he also battled the disease), it’s really got met thinking a lot about Alzheimer’s and what we can do to fund research for the disease. It’s a really difficult one, and after experiencing it through my great-grandmother, it’s really one of the worst ways to go. Really gets me choked up thinking about it.
On another note, I’m trying hard to cut added sugar from my diet for a while. Pretty sure there was probably sugar in last night’s pad thai though… I’ll probably write a post about the experience in a couple weeks. We’ll see how this goes with being out of town for a couple days.
Listening & watching
So, for some reason I’m really into random pop music right now? I can’t stop listening to that new Demi Lovato song haha. So not like me. As always, still obsessed with the podcast My Favorite Murder, but my favorite author just started a podcast and I’m in love. For The Love, hosted by Jen Hatmaker, is such a good one. Definitely a good balance to all the true crime I listen to.
I watched Her this week (I know, finally) and, wow. Really got me thinking about artificial intelligence. If I think about it too much I get really creeped out. But the movie also make me think about love and what it means. If you are one of the few (like me) who haven’t seen it yet, I really recommend it. It’s sweet, creepy and thought-provoking all at once.
We’re still trudging our way through the new season of House of Cards. Considering our current political climate, it’s become harder to watch. And the trailer for season 2 of The Crown was released. I cannot wait! Anyone else LOVE that show? I might rewatch season 1 this fall.
That’s it for now, sorry it was all over the place. Have a great weekend!
