This is my first of two Everlane reviews! Over the last 6 months or so, I’ve accumulated 6 tops from Everlane, and have been very pleased with their quality, price point, and styles. The customer service at Everlane is great, and though I’ve had to return a few items due to fit, I’ve always felt pleased with my purchases. I decided to split up my Everlane review into two parts, to keep it a little more focused.
Since Everlane is only sold online, finding the right fit is the toughest part, so I’m going to be transparent about my size, the sizes I ordered, and how things fit. For reference I’m about 5’4″, 110-115 lbs, & approximately a B-cup. I usually wear an XS/0. Here’s the first three tops!
The Boxy Stripe Tee | This is one of my favorite things I’ve purchased. I was looking for a Breton-style stripe top in a loose fit. I was set on finding navy stripes, but just couldn’t find what I wanted and this top was stuck in my head. It’s white with black stripes, but I like it just as much any navy stripe top I’ve seen! It fits perfectly. The top has high side vents, with a shorter front than the back. Personally, I really like the side vents. The fabric of the shirt is a little heavier and the side vents give it some breathability which is great for warm days. I’ll layer a black cami underneath for extra warmth or modesty. The top sticks out a bit in the front because it’s open on the sides, so depending on your chest size it will push out more or less. It’s definitely a shirt you have to try on to determine if it works, but I love wearing it. I toss it on with jeans and sometimes a denim jacket over top. It’s very comfortable, so I highly suggest it if you’re looking for a boxier tee! I have a size XS. With my arms down the front of the shirt hits right at my hips and the sleeves land a couple inches past my elbow. I haven’t washed it yet, but I’ll wash in cold water and lay flat to dry, to keep the shape.
The Cotton Sweater | I wanted a lightweight, simple sweater I could wear to work, and this fit the bill perfectly! I bought this sweater in an XS and the light grey color. If I purchased again, I would size up, as it is fitted and slightly cropped. It still fits really well, and I love to layer it with my sleeveless silk top from Everlane (in the next review!) It’s soft, stretchy and very comfortable. So far I’ve only worn this with slacks and a little more dressed up for work, but looking at these photos, I really like the way it looks casually with jeans. The sweater is cut similar to the boxy stripe tee, in that its a little shorter in the front and longer in the back, with about a 2-inch side vent. This sweater will show a bra line, but I normally wear it layered or at least with a cami underneath. I recommend this sweater if you’re looking for a simple lightweight sweater, but size up if you want it a bit longer and looser. It will shrink in the dryer, so I recommend laying flat to dry, and washing cold.
Relaxed Poplin Shirt | Yet another item I’d been searching high and low for, and Everlane saved the day. I wanted a relaxed-fit white button up, and really like this one from Everlane which is one of their newest releases. I was hoping for a slightly thicker, soft cotton material in the shirt I was looking for, but when you’re looking for the perfect intersection of fit, style, fabric and price, something usually has to give. The poplin is a nice crisp, lightweight fabric, which will be nice when it’s hot out. It’s slightly too big at this point to wear more formally, but I really like it super casual (I wore it with jeans, converse and a baseball cap last weekend – one of my favorite outfits I’ve worn recently!) I have the shirt in a 00, so that shows how relaxed it is. The back hits just at the bottom of my butt, and the sleeves are the perfect length, though I prefer them rolled up a bit. I haven’t washed it yet, so I can’t speak to that.
That’s it for my first Everlane review. There will be another one in a week or two featuring the sleeveless silk top, sweatshirt, and u-neck tee! If you have any questions about Everlane or these pieces, please leave them in the comments! I love talking about Everlane.
My Portland guide is coming up this Friday! I’ve been meaning to do this post forever, and I’m excited to share my favorite PDX spots with y’all. Hope you’re having a great week!
